A kipper is a whole herring that has been sliced in half from head to tail, gutted and then smoked – a process is known as “kippering”.
We sell traditionally oak-smoked Scottish kipper fillets. They are great for brunch or breakfast, and delicious with a sharp sauce.
Herring/Kippers are high in protein, low in calories and packed with Omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin D.
They are best cooked with lots of butter, under a medium grill.
